Maritime consulting & education
for the modern industry.
Born in Washington, D.C. and raised across the DMV, Capt. Watson came up the hawsepipe — every rung. From Supply Utilityman in 2012 to Master Mariner — more than a decade with Military Sealift Command before transitioning to Jackson Offshore Operators, he has stood watch on dynamic positioning, flight operations, underway replenishment, and restricted-water transits in some of the most demanding waters in the world.
Anacostia Maritime is what comes next: world-class consulting and education delivered with the discipline of someone who's actually had the conn — and who knows what it takes to walk onto a bridge ready, because he made the same walk himself. The name is no accident. It's the river that runs through the city that raised him.
Beyond the Bridge
Long before founding Anacostia Maritime, Capt. Watson was already mentoring — helping countless colleagues pass their Third Mate exams, walking Ordinary and Able Seamen through the long climb into officer roles, and telling anyone who would listen what this industry could open up for them.
The maritime industry changed his life. Education at Anacostia Maritime exists, in part, to make sure others — especially those from the same environments that raised him — know it can change theirs too.
“The industry changed my life. I want to make sure it changes others — especially those who come from where I come from.” Capt. Alfred-Jamal Watson
